A studio moves for €300–450, a one-bedroom for €360–520, a two-bedroom for €520–720 and a house for €950–1500, within Lisbon and the near suburbs. Those figures include two movers, a van, protective materials and insurance.
Before anything else: we are a moving company, and we sell fixed-price moves. Read our bias as given. This guide is useful anyway, because the interesting part of Lisbon pricing is not which model is cheaper — hourly usually is — but what you stop getting when the number drops.
These are realistic ranges for a move within Lisbon and the near suburbs, with two movers, a van, blankets and wrap, and goods-in-transit insurance included.
| Home | Typical volume | Price range |
|---|---|---|
| Studio / T0 | 8–12 m³ | €300–450 |
| One bedroom (T1) | 12–16 m³ | €360–520 |
| Two bedrooms (T2) | 16–22 m³ | €520–720 |
| Three bedrooms (T3) | 22–30 m³ | €680–950 |
| House | 30–45 m³ | €950–1500 |
| A few items / single piece | 1–4 m³ | €80–160 |
A studio move within Lisbon costs €300–450 in 2026, including two movers, a van, materials and insurance. A two-bedroom flat costs €520–720 on the same basis. Stairs without a lift and distance out of the city move a quote outside these ranges more than anything else.
All figures in this guide include IVA at 23%. This matters more than it sounds: a company below the €15,000 annual turnover threshold does not charge IVA at all, so its quote can look 23% cheaper for reasons that have nothing to do with efficiency. When you compare two numbers, check whether both include tax.
Lisbon has two common pricing models and comparing their headline numbers tells you almost nothing. Here is the same job priced both ways, with the assumptions shown so you can argue with them.
The job: a two-bedroom flat, lift at one address, no lift at the other, within Lisbon. Realistically five to six hours for two people; we use 5.5 hours. The advertised hourly rate is €25 per hour for two movers, which is a real rate published by Lisbon companies.
| As advertised | Hourly, good day | Hourly, slow day | Fixed price | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hours | 5.5 | 5.5 | 7.5 | — |
| Labour | €138 | €138 | €188 | included |
| Van and fuel | not quoted | €90 | €90 | included |
| Materials | not quoted | €45 | €45 | included |
| Insurance | not quoted | usually none | usually none | included |
| Total | €138 | €273 | €323 | €580 |
Two things are worth noticing in that table. The first is the gap between the advertised €138 and the €273 actually paid on a good day. Nothing went wrong there — that is simply what an hourly quote does not include. The second is the insurance row.
A rate of €25 per hour for two people works out at €12.50 per mover per hour, before the van, fuel, materials, employment costs and tax. That price is achievable, but not while also carrying goods-in-transit insurance, employing the crew formally and issuing invoices. The cheap quote is not the same product bought at a discount. It is a different product, and for a small move with nothing fragile it can be the right one.
Fairness cuts both ways, so here is the fine print on our side of the argument. A fixed price is fixed against the job that was surveyed. It is normal for any company, including us, to requote when:
If you are moving to Lisbon from another country, our practical checklist covers the paperwork and the timeline that sit around all of this.
The other side of it, which companies mention less often: a fixed price does not go down if the day runs fast. If your move takes four hours instead of six, you pay the agreed number. That is the trade — the company absorbs the bad days and keeps the good ones.
Ask any company what triggers a requote and get the answer in writing. A firm that cannot list its own exceptions has not thought about them.
Volume is the largest factor, and it is volume rather than floor area. A sparsely furnished T2 can be smaller than a full T1, and boxes count as much as furniture. This is why a serious quote follows a look at your actual rooms, in person or on video.
Out-of-town moves carry a distance component. It should be a stated figure, not an open meter, and it should already include tolls and fuel. Typical ranges from central Lisbon:
| Destination | Typical drive | Added to the move |
|---|---|---|
| Amadora, Odivelas, Loures | 15–25 min | €20–40 |
| Oeiras | 20–30 min | €30–50 |
| Almada, Seixal (bridge) | 25–45 min | €45–75 incl. tolls |
| Cascais | 35–45 min | €60–90 |
| Sintra | 30–45 min | €55–85 |
| Setúbal | 45–60 min | €80–120 |
If a company quotes the drive by the hour instead, ask what happens when the A5 or the bridge is slow. On an hourly contract, that hour is yours to pay for.
This is the most useful comparison you can make. Ask specifically about each item — the question "is everything included?" always gets a yes.
| Item | Typical cost if charged separately |
|---|---|
| Van and fuel | €60–110 per move |
| Blankets, wrap, tape, floor protection | €30–60 |
| Boxes, if supplied | €1.50–4 each |
| A third mover where the job needs one | €12–20 per hour |
| Disassembly and reassembly | €40–90 |
| Reserved parking space (council permit) | €20–60 per address |
| External furniture lift, where stairs will not do | €150–350 |
| Goods-in-transit insurance | often not offered at all |
The last line is the one that matters. Goods-in-transit insurance is not the same as a company's general liability cover, and "we are insured" can mean either. Ask which policy covers your sofa, what the limit is per move, what the excess is, and what is excluded — boxes you packed yourself, cash and jewellery usually are.
An invoice matters for the same practical reason. Without a fatura there is no documented contract, which makes an insurance claim and an employer relocation reimbursement equally difficult. Portuguese companies also cannot deduct an undocumented expense, and payments of €1,000 or more involving a business must go through traceable means rather than cash. If you are moving an office, paperwork is not optional.
Being useful means pointing away from ourselves where that is the honest answer.
