Parque das Nações is the opposite of the old town: built from scratch for Expo 98, with wide streets, underground garages, service lifts and buildings designed for vehicles to reach.
Moves here are fast, and the price usually reflects that. The one thing worth planning is the building itself — many towers require you to book the service lift and the loading bay with the condominium in advance. Tell us at the survey and we will schedule around the slot you get.
The buildings here were designed after vans existed, which is not something you can say about most of Lisbon. Flats are newer, doorways are standard width, and there is almost always a lift that takes furniture rather than just people.
The trade-off is administrative. Most towers require the condominium to approve the move, book the service lift and open the loading bay, and some restrict moves to weekdays or to specific hours. None of that is difficult, and all of it takes days rather than minutes. Ask the building manager the week you book us, not the week of the move.
Not on the stairs — there are none — but on distance. The walk from the loading bay to the lift, and from the lift to your door, can be a hundred metres in the larger blocks. It is flat and easy, and it still adds up across sixty boxes.
Underground garages have a height limit, usually posted at the entrance. Our van needs about 2.5 metres of clearance. Where the garage is lower we work from the street entrance instead, which is fine but changes the carry, so measure or photograph the sign before the day.
One local detail people find odd until they live here: the buildings are numbered in a system that makes sense on the masterplan and not on foot. Send us the exact entrance rather than only the street, or the crew spends fifteen minutes circling a block that has four identical faces.
Lifts and vehicle access remove the two things that make an old-city move expensive. For the same volume, a move here sits at the lower end of our range, and often finishes in less time than the estimate.
The one thing that can cost you is a missed lift booking. An hour spent waiting because another resident reserved the same slot is the only real risk to the schedule in this neighbourhood — and it is entirely avoidable with one message to the condominium.
